Check these first

The most common issues we see — a 2-minute check may save you a week.

My amp keeps going into protect mode

Nine times out of ten this is voltage or ohm load. With the engine running, measure voltage at the amp’s terminals while playing bass — if it dips under ~12 V the amp protects itself. Check your ground (bare metal, short run, same gauge as power), the Big 3 upgrade, and alternator output.

Then confirm the final impedance with our Ohm Load Calculator. A load below the amp’s rated minimum will trigger protect every time.

My sub plays but sounds distorted or “slappy”

Usually the gain is set too high (clipping) or the sub is being over-driven in a box that’s too big or tuned too low. Turn the gain down until the distortion stops, set bass boost to 0, and check the enclosure against our recommended specs in Product Docs. A subsonic filter set around 5–10 Hz below box tuning protects the sub from unloading.

How do I tell if my voice coil is burnt?

Disconnect the sub and measure each coil with a multimeter on ohms. A healthy D2 coil reads roughly 1.5–2 Ω; a reading of 0 (shorted) or infinite / “OL” (open) means the coil is gone. A burnt-coil smell or a scratching sound when you gently press the cone are also tell-tales. Burnt or open coils are caused by excess power/clipping and are not covered under warranty, but we can often recone the sub for far less than replacing it — select “Requesting repair / recone” above.

What’s covered under warranty?

SoundQubed products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the original retail purchase, for the original purchaser. Not covered: burnt or open coils, customer abuse, competition use, power beyond the rated RMS, improper installation, or units purchased used / from unauthorized sellers. Full details on our Shipping, Returns & Warranty page.

How long does a support request take?

We reply within 1–2 business days, usually faster. If a return or recone is needed we’ll send an authorization with shipping instructions — please don’t ship anything before that. Warranty evaluations typically take 3–5 business days after we receive the product.

Can I return a product I just bought?

Yes — within 30 days of delivery. Unopened items carry a 10% restocking fee, opened-but-unused 15%, and used-but-working 20%; return shipping is paid by the customer. Start a return from My Account or the contact page rather than this form.
